Major Story Arcs

A former MI-6 agent who gained powers during a classified operation, Michael Talingway was assigned as the United Kingdom’s representative to the United Nations’ Special Task Force known as The First Guard.

Initially tasked with gathering intelligence on the other members of the team, Talingway eventually grew to respect his teammates, even falling in love with (and eventually marrying) the heroine named Aquatica. This created a conflict with his mission, and when he approached his superiors, to their credit, they modified his mission parameters.

Diversion was one of the First Guard members severely injured during the “Decimation” invasion. Following his recovery, he and his wife Aquatica both retired from the organization, though they have both since returned to active duty in recent times.

Powers and Abilities

Diversion possesses multiple abilities, including superhuman agility and flexibility. He is more agile than even the most well- trained Olympic-level gymnast, able to execute complex aerial maneuvers and tumbles. He is flexible enough to be considered double- jointed, and can contort himself into positions that a normal man of his age and build would deem impossible.

One of Diversion’s primary abilities (and the power from which he takes his name) is the ability to teleport himself and others (up to a mass of approximately 2,000 pounds) a maximum distance of up to one thousand miles from his current location. By using this power in rapid succession in a tactical manner, he serves as the ideal “diversion”, keeping an enemy’s attention focused on him and not the activities of his teammates.

Diversion also possesses the ability to generate force shields, able to protect himself and any others up to a radius of 20 feet from his body. These shields can take the forms of domes, or simple shields in front of himself or others. The shields are strong enough to effectively shield any within or behind them from explosive forces of up to 2,000 pounds of TNT, or varying extremes of temperature.
