Major Story Arcs

Born during one of the biggest earthquakes to ever strike her home region, Maralah was always destined for greatness. Overcoming the abject poverty and despair of her reservation home, she eventually went to college and earned dual degrees in two fields she felt could benefit her people the most.

Eventually brought on board the United Nations’ environmental team, Maralah used her new position to lobby for underprivileged Native People’s across the nation. But Maralah herself had been keeping her own secret: she possessed immense superhuman terrakinetic powers. And during an operation for the U.N., she was forced to use her powers to protect her team from violent insurgents.

Following this incident, her superiors reassigned her to duty as a member of The First Guard where she adopted the code-name Tectonic, based on the nature of her powers.

At first resentful of this new duty, Maralah eventually realized that her heightened exposure in the public eye allowed her an even greater platform on which to act as a spokesperson for marginalized Native Peoples both domestically and abroad.

Powers and Abilities

As Tectonic, Maralah possesses vast terrakinetic abilities, allowing her to manipulate naturally- occurring elements such as rock and soil, sand, and molten lava. She can psionically manipulate these materials into any shape she desires, as well as alter the consistency and/or solidity of those same materials.

Additionally, Maralah possesses the ability to cause earthquakes ranging in intensity from simple localized tremors to widespread events. The greater the intensity of earthquake she causes, the greater the danger that she risks the event escalating beyond her ability to control into a full-scale catastrophic event. As a result, she tends to keep these at more manageable levels.

Maralah can also sense vibrations in the earth, as well as movement through it. It is for this reason that she tends to remain bare-footed to have a better sense and awareness of her surroundings.
