Coming into contact with the team of Section Zero when they are sent on patrol to investigate a "bug creature" sighting which may be killing live stock in the Australian outback.

Thom is taken in by the Section Zero members Doc Challenger and Sam Wildman and is soon given the codename of the 24 Hour Bug. Thom is not however thrilled with this power or the situation he gets himself into with Section Zero.

As the 24-Hour Bug he joins the rest of Section Zero in investigating such things as UFOs, Monsters, Lost Civilizations, Time Travel, Ancient Gods, still-living Dinosaurs, and urban legend. Its been stated by Doc Challenger that, "Section Zero isn't a secret section of the United Nation's charter. It does not perpetually fund a team of experts and adventurers to investigate the fantastic and unknown."
