Astroman was created as a birthday present for Madman by Marrie and Warren, and his computer mind was based on Madman's brainwaves. He has saved Madman's life many times, often at the price of his own, but he can be recreated in a new body by Dr. Flem as long as his memory chip survives.
Astroman's first death was a suicide, after too much of Madman's knowledge was transmitted into him and he was unable to bear it.
The second time, Mick Moniham killed the disguised Astroman thinking he was Madman.
Astroman is fully capable of human feelings, having fallen in love with another robot called Machina.
