Origin

Edward April is a captain in the Philadelphia Police Department. As such, he was the boss of Tony Chubefore Chu became an agent of the Special Crimes Division of the F.D.A.

Creation

Captain Edward April was created by John Layman and Rob Guillory. His first appearance was in Image's Chew #1.

The day after Tony Chu solves the murders of 12 girls and catches their killer Lee Cobb, Captain Edward April should be happy, but he is far from pleased. Unknown to him Chu used his Cibopathy to eat part of Cobb to learn what he had done, which was completely against police procedure. On top of this, Chu's partner John Colby was in the hospital and wasn't expected to live.

Captain Edwards was about to release Chu to the team of lawyers that had amassed outside his door and then fire Chu, but that was when Mason Savoy busted into the Captain's office and inform him that Chu was now part of the FDA. It is unclear if Captain Edwards is happy about this because he like Chu, even though he is an "odd duck", or angered by being pulled rank on by the FDA.
