Charlotte has been dating David Brown for a few months, but he is not really in love with her. Charlotte had schemed to cancel a meeting between him and another student, Alexandra Cox, and then set her sights on David. However, David ends up breaking up with her, and Charlotte is deeply affected. Her friends, Danielle and Julie, try to comfort her.

Still in love with David, she uses Crave to determine her chance of winning him back, but the result are discouraging - less than 10% chance. After checking the results of a public poll on whether David should date Alexandra or her, she sees that 100% of the votes are against her, with many people putting her down in the process.

Feeling she has no choice but to give up, she then attempts to go after Alexandra, David’s new love interest. Crave provides her with ways to harm her rival, but Charlotte doesn’t have the strength to follow through and abandons the idea. However, Crave allows users to help fulfill the wishes of others by completing certain tasks, and as a result, Alexandra and several other students find themselves caught in a fire. The doors are locked, and the sprinklers are disabled—Crave acting according to Charlotte’s wish.

David realizes what is happening when he finds Charlotte’s phone and sees her requests to Crave. He tries to cancel her wish but needs her fingerprint to confirm. He then finds Charlotte lying on the bathroom floor, having swallowed multiple pills in a suicide attempt. He takes her index finger to cancel the wish and then helps her get back on her feet. Once the wish is undone, the sprinklers activate, and the fire is extinguished.

After life on campus returns to normal, Charlotte decides to leave university to enter a residential therapy program.
