Origin

Also known as Deshawn Berry. D-Bear sells Black Market Chicken, but he informs to the FDA so they let him continue to his business. Also, he may have killed at least 5 people.

He leads Tony and John into a black market chicken restaurant which results in John getting his face cut and Tony getting outed as a cibopath. He also helps Tony to stop Butcher Jones.

Creation

D-Bear was created by John Layman and Rob Guillory. His first appearance was in Image's Chew #1.

Tony Chu and John Colby are on a stakeout outside of Speedy Upholstery in the Fairmont area of Philadelphia when they see D-Bear walk inside the illegal resturant. The pair follow but they are stopped by Mason Savoy and told that D-Bear is working for the FDA. The Philadelphia Police Officers don't catch D-Bear that night but that was the night Colby almost dies, and Chu solves the Lee Cobb murders.

After John Colby returns to the force and joins the FDA he and his newest, old partner Tony Chu make D-Bear a little visit. Right away John takes out his aggression for getting a butcher knife to the face, out on D-Bear. The FDA agent beats up D-Bear and demands that the informant give him $3000 a month, the amount the FDA pays D-Bear to be an informant, plus a "little extra to make it a nice easy to remember round number". John then throws D-Bear out the window and through a car, leaving the street boss lying in a puddle of his own blood and urine.

Tony is forced to by Captain Applebee to take D-Bear undercover with him in an attempt to catch Butcher Jones and his illegal chicken fights. D-Bear, knows that Butcher Jones will kill him and anyone he associates with, due to the fact that D-Bear screwed him over years prior. D-Bear doesn't tell Chu this information, knowing that Chu will most likely kill Jones somehow and get D-Bear off the hook. D-Bear is correct, and Chu frees Poyo who kills Jones and his men in a rain of claws and beak.

When Langsham reopens Mother Clucker's he turns to D-Bear to supply the black-market chicken, something D-Bear happily does. Later when the flaming sky letter disappear, D-Bear can be seen in front of the chicken joint eating a giant drumstick.

Bad Apples

D-Bear has reopened the Speedy Upholstery and things are going well until Agent John Colby and Agent Caesar Valenzano come in for some illegal chicken. While D-Bear is getting them their chicken, Colby realizes that Valenzano is working for Savoy and the pair start a fight that wrecks most of Speedy's.
