Origins

Dan Franks is a sportswriter for the Mercury Sun. At some point he dated Amelia Mintz but when the relationship ended Dan took it bad and stalked his ex-girlfriend and even attacked her new boyfriend, Tony Chu. Dan has always had the dream to write a book about famous baseball players and their kinky sex habits.

Creation

Dan Franks was created by John Layman and Rob Guillory for their series Chew.

After losing Amelia to Tony Chu, Dan became extremely depresses and spent much of his waking hours pining over his lost love. This lead some of his friends to insist that he gets a hobby, or maybe go back to writing his book, "Superstar Sluggers' Untold Sex Tales".

This is just what Dan does, but with a new twist. He and some of his friends, kidnap Tony and force feed him body parts of dead famous baseball players, so that he could learn about their past sexual encounters.

This plan works, and Dan writes his book, gets a huge cash advanced and quits his job. But this isn't enough for Dan and he wants to humiliate Tony more, so he holds an auction and sells off Tony and his abilities to the highest bidder.

Everything seems to be going well for Dan but then Amelia shows up to rescue Tony. Dan threatens his former ex, and this forces Tony into breaking his binds and attack Dan. Tony throws a baseball into Dan's face, apparently killing his tormentor.
