Origin

Eugene Ego grew up in Pasadena, CA in a big house. His father was an infamous plastic surgeon having honed his unique skills on the battlefields of WWII. Not only did he teach those skills to his son, but he taught him to push the boundaries of medical science. Despite being expelled from the most prestigious schools for his excessiveness, he earned a degree and a license. He started a successful practice in Hollywood, but in 1997, his practice was threatened by multiple medical malpractice lawsuits. Scorekeeper offered him a chance to get out from under it by becoming a resident of Hyde Street. There he runs a clinic, where he can continue to hone his skills while delivering souls, occasionally doing "pro bono" work, allowing the more tragic cases to escape delivery on Hyde Street.

Major Story Arcs

Pranky the Wolfboy

Pranky had stolen a rubber werewolf mask from Mr. X-ray's novelty sales office to hunt The Matinee Monster, another resident Pranky was feuding with. The mask transformed him into a werewolf and now couldn't be removed. X-Ray promised to help him get it off if Pranky finally agreed not to interrupt his deliveries. Unfortunately, X-Ray couldn't take it off either. They sought the help of Doctor Ego, who couldn't remove it since Pranky had actually transform. Ego snagged X-ray's x-ray specs to attempt to disconnect the mask emotionally.

According to Ego, they had to wait for whatever vision the x-ray specs were giving Pranky to make him feel less like a monster. Once he did, the Wolfman mask should release on its own. When it finally did, Pranky violently escaped from Ego's office.
