Elea Veris was created by Kelly Thompson and Meredith McClaren in Black Cloak 2.

Major Story Arcs

One of the Kiros Three, the most powerful Humans in the city of Kiros, along with her younger brother Galal III of Veris and their childhood friend Aldric II of Solas. The Elves have ruled Kiros for hundreds of years, but after the Queen’s son Freyal III of Sidra is killed, the Kiros Three see a possible route to power for Humans.

Aldric, Elea, and Galal visit the Black Cloak in charge of investigating the murder, Phaedra Essex. They tell her that they can give her information on the case. While this information is not portrayed directly on panel, Phaedra later says that they implied that the Dracona, another influential race in Kiros, is behind it. By implicating the Dracona, the Kiros Three could hope to heat up the rivalry between the Elves and Dracona, or perhaps sideline the Dracona if the Elves were deposed and a new race rose to power.

The Three are impressed when Phaedra realizes the Three are in her home, before they announce themselves, since they are using a powerful form of cloaking magic.

Phaedra is not taken in by their manipulation, partly because she herself is half Dracona, being the daughter of the most influential of the Dracona, Phinneas II of Thane.

Five years later, after Kiros’s supply of magic is severed, Elea revives an attempt to create synthetic magic. She eventually breaks Master Lysanthir, who originally developed the idea, out of prison to help make it work.

To ward off any Black Cloak investigations into the process, she captures a variety of magic-sensitives and puts them in machines that help them control the giant creatures known as Dragyern. It is unknown whether Galal and Aldric help her with this. They use the Dragyern to kill anyone who knows about the project. This eventually calls itself to the attention of Black Cloaks Pax and Essex.

One of the captured people is Aldric’s daughter, Dagmar. She escapes and helps Pax and Essex defeat Elea and Lysanthir. Elea tries to have them killed but is herself killed by one of the Dragyern.
