The suit of armor was his father's. Joel Aaronson never wanted it, he never wanted to be a hero, but his father's dying wish was for him to put it on and help save his homeworld Dahnae, from the invading Gorasion hordes. Through inexperience and unfamiliarity he inadvertently caused the deaths of his father's teammates, the Superior Squad. It is a guilt he will live with for the rest of his life as Firepower struggles against himself to find the hero buried inside of him.
