Major Story Arcs
One of the Kiros Three, the most powerful Humans in the city of Kiros, along with his older sister Elea Veris and their childhood friend Aldric II of Solas. The Elves have ruled Kiros for hundreds of years, but after the Queen’s son Freyal III of Sidra is killed, the Kiros Three see a possible route to power for Humans.
After the current Queen, Taline, and her son Freyal, Galal is the next in line for the throne. It is unknown why a human would follow after the Queen’s blood relative; perhaps she has no other close relatives, or perhaps it is connected to some official position Galal holds. It is also unclear why Galal is next in line and not his older sister; perhaps it is connected to the sometimes patriarchal system of the culture, where only male characters are the official holder of the clan name (thus Galal III of Veris, but just Elea Veris), but on the other hand the current ruler is female.
Aldric, Elea, and Galal visit the Black Cloak in charge of investigating the murder, Phaedra Essex. They tell her that they can give her information on the case. While this information is not portrayed directly on panel, Phaedra later says that they implied that the Dracona, another influential race in Kiros, is behind it. By implicating the Dracona, the Kiros Three could hope to heat up the rivalry between the Elves and Dracona, or perhaps sideline the Dracona if the Elves were deposed and a new race rose to power.
The Three are impressed when Phaedra realizes the Three are in her home, before they announce themselves, since they are using a powerful form of cloaking magic.
Phaedra is not taken in by their manipulation, partly because she herself is half Dracona, being the daughter of the most influential of the Dracona, Phinneas II of Thane.
Fellow Kiros Three member Aldric II has a daughter, Dagmar Solas. Unlike most humans, she is actually a powerful sorceress. She is captured and, along with others, used to control the giant creatures known as Dragyern in an attempt to ward off investigations into a conspiracy to develop a form of synthetic magic. Dagmar eventually escapes and helps to get revenge on her captors, who include Galal's wife, Elea Veris, and the Elf Master Lysanthir. It is unclear whether Aldric and Galal are involved with Elea in this gambit.
