Origin
Hazel is the daughter of Marko and Alana, deserters from opposite sides of a galactic war. She is unique within the universe as a hybrid of two different species.
Creation
Hazel was created by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Fiona Staples. She first appears in Saga #1. Although she is only an infant at the time of the first issue, it is revealed that Hazel is the narrator of the story.
Major Story Arcs
Hazel is born in a garage on the planet Cleave. Her parents are on the run for their respective authorities because their races are at war and they have defected their respective armies. Fleeing, Hazel and her growing family finally reach the home of D. Oswald Heist. But unfortunately Prince Robot IV has worked out where they were heading and reached Heist's home a week later to terminate Hazel and her family.
