Kaa
Warden of pythons on the terraformed planet, Exodus
- Animal Control
- Weapon Master
Origin
Kaa was selected for warden training on the terraformed planet, Exodus. She was assigned pythons as her animal. She was a student of Dire Wolf (wolf warden), who washed her out of training for being especially susceptible to instinct influence. The snakes were having more influence on her than the other way around, making her a cold-hearted predator. Years later, after the world engine malfunctioned and the planet started to die, she fell in with Ursaw, a mercenary working for the Better-World corporation to clean up after the employees left behind. She finally received her helmet thanks to him.
Creation
Kaa first appears in Rook: Exodus #3 by Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok.
Major Story Arcs
The Oasis
After killing Swine (wild pig warden), Ursaw and his army come across Rook (blackbird warden) and Dire Wolf. They attack them, but Rook and Wolf manage to escape. They follow the duo to The Oasis, a hydroelectric dam turned into a safehouse by Carapace (turtle warden). Housed inside The Oasis was The Wildlife Grid, the broadcasting orb that connected the wardens helmets to each other.
Kaa was partnered with Warhog, one of Ursaw's men with Swine's helmet, to attack The Oasis as a distraction to lure Rook and Dire Wolf away. Warhog took on Rook, and Kaa took on Dire Wolf. Kaa controlled an enhanced python to attack Dire Wolf, but she used a stun spear to subdue the serpent. Injured, the serpent and Kaa retreated, leaving Ursaw and his army behind.
Powers and Abilities
Neural Network Helmet: As a Warden, Kaa was given a special helmet that allowed her to control a particular group of animals to help terraform the planet of Exodus. In her case, it was snakes.
- Communication: They come equipped with two-way communicators to other Wardens
- Instinct Influence: The neural connection is two-way, and the animals can sometimes influence their own instincts on to their wardens. The scientists who developed the tech believed that the animals would be too weak minded to have a significant affect on humans.
Weapon Master: As her primary offensive weapon, Kaa has a snake-themed whip.
