When the Unknown War started, Tariq Geiger attempted to get his family to the bomb shelter he had created. He just barely got them all inside, although not himself, as the bombs dropped. Unfortunately, they died immediately after the door was shut due to falling debris inside the shelter. Mutated into a radioactive superhuman, Geiger would stand watch outside the shelter for years, not knowing the fate of his family
