Origin

Nate was born 15 years before the Unknown War in Dayton, Ohio. After surviving the Unknown War, Nate made his way to Las Vegas. He got a job as a security guard of The Camelot casino climbing the ladder to Nuclear Knight. He was assigned to a platoon to take on the "Glowing Man," Geiger, but he was moved by Geiger's sacrifice for two young orphans. He defected from the Nuclear Knights and became Geiger's travelling companion.

Creation

Nate the Nuclear Knight first appeared in the short story, "Who is Redcoat?" by Geoff Johns and Bryan Hitch in the Geiger 80-Page Giant.

Major Story Arc

Lewiston, MT

It took a lot of effort, but Nate eventually convinced Geiger to let him be a travelling companion, along with his steed, a young three-eyed zebra named Zigzag. They learned of a second glowing man who had been cured, which pointed them to a man named Ash Arden in Lewiston, MT. After fighting through the Organ People, a mercenary named The Electrician, and an isolationist community which had blacklisted all evidence of civilization from before the The Unknown War, they made it to Lewiston with a new companion, the military drone, Junkyard Joe.

Ash Arden turned out to be a woman. She had glowing powers like Geiger, but she was not cured. She had simply learned to focus her power better. She agreed to help Geiger focus his power, but the community she had built in Montana was attacked by the US military. This revealed that her community was built on top of an old military silo. She had rigged a nuclear weapon to explode and had been secretly training Geiger to absorb the radiation, and by extension, her own, thus curing only her.

The radiation was too much for Geiger, and he would have died had Ash not had a change of heart and shared the burden of the radiation with him. In the ensuing chaos, Nate stabbed the Custodian, the military scientist responsible for Joe's creation, while trying to take Joe into custody. Nate believed Joe was affected by the EMP from the weapon, so they left Joe in the hands of Dr. Molotov to try and fix.
