When Samara was 12, her parents were often away from home for long periods of time and her brother Gabriel had to watch over her. Given Gabriel and his friends' computer activities, he would regularly lock himself in the garage and forbid Samara from entering. Curious, one day she found a way to create an account on their private forum w0rldtr33, with the username PH34R, which means fear. So she accessed the Undernet and became addicted, despite herself. Over time, the Undernet completely transformed her and she became a fearsome serial killer. She also plays the role of a disciple of this dark universe, encouraging and inciting young people to connect and kill, to contribute to the evolution of their new world.

Character Evolution

After manipulating young Gibson Lane into committing his gruesome murders, PH34R makes her way to the police station where he is being held. Displaying the Undernet on every screen in the precinct, she takes advantage of the officers’ trance-like state to slaughter them all before reaching Gibson’s cell. After congratulating him on his work, she kills him in front of his brother, Ellison, who had come to speak with him. Before leaving, she invites Ellison to join them online if he wants to be part of it all.

She then heads to Gibson’s house, where she finds Fausta. Just as she is about to kill her, Fausta enters Gibson’s room and sits at his computer. Spotting access codes, she uses them to log in and send out a podcast she wants to publish. Unaware that she is connecting to the Undernet, she becomes mesmerized by the images on the screen, frozen in place. Satisfied with having found a new follower, PH34R decides to let her live and leaves the house.

At the same time, Darren and Amanda arrive, intending to burn the house down, but they notice Fausta inside. As they rush in to save her from the Undernet’s influence, PH34R ignites the gasoline they had spread throughout the house. However, they manage to escape just in time, with Fausta.

PH34R then makes her way to the hotel Gabriel had rented as their headquarters. As FBI agent Nicky Gallo arrives at the hotel, PH34R ambushes and kills him. Before she can do the same to his partner, Siobhan Silk, she is forced to retreat. However, she later returns and finds Gabriel inside, engaged in a conversation with Ellison and Fausta. It is then revealed that PH34R is Gabriel’s sister, Samara.

Gabriel asks Ellison and Fausta to leave the room so he can talk to her alone. PH34R tells Gabriel that it is too late to stop what has begun—it isn’t just a game anymore. She shows him live news feeds displaying dozens of ongoing mass killings worldwide, the numbers rising every second. In response, Gabriel pulls out his phone and, in a matter of seconds, disables internet access across the entire world, an emergency measure he had spent years preparing in case it was ever needed.

Enraged by his actions, PH34R stabs Gabriel in the back, only to be caught off guard by Darren, Amanda, Liam, and Yoshi. Darren fires a warning shot near her, forcing her to step back. Despite their rage, Gabriel orders them not to kill her, insisting that they will need her to put an end to this crisis. Reluctantly, they let her go. Moments later, Gabriel succumbs to his wounds and dies.
