Origin

Sophia is a fairly ordinary girl at Birch Elementary school. She is in the fifth grade and befriends fellow fifth grader Barbara Thorson, after she moves next door to her. Although Barbara appears a little odd Sophia is quick to appreciate her and the two grow close. Despite differences in personalities, the two maintain a friendship. Sophia is friendly, tenacious, outward and outgoing. Sophia like Barbara also comes into conflict with school bully Taylor but both receive mature advice from school counsellor Mrs Molle.

Creation

Sophia was created by writer Joe Kelly and artist JM Ken Niimura for the Image published mini series I Kill Giants released in 2008.

Character Evolution

Sophia functions as a supporting character within the story. Her role as the protagonists best friend puts her in the heart of the story, her characters personality also used to contrast with Barbaras, as well as used for humor.

Powers and Abilities

Sophia has a fifth grade level education, and otherwise quite normal.
