Origin

Born just outside Irapuato, Mexico, it was discovered she had severe cataracts. Legally blind, she could see just a flash of things before spots covered her vision. The condition was correctable but the orphanage didn't have the funds. She was treated just before she turned five, right after arriving in the United States. She was adopted by Miguel and Catherine Riggs, who already had a son named Emory.

Years after an unnatural event turned the skies dark and began to mutate all living things, Val Riggs had become a driver, taking things from human outpost to outpost for the highest bidder.
