During an excavation of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, archaeologist Romano Accosi uncovered a volcanic entity that had been buried with the ruins since the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Romano and his family took the creature in and helped it acclimatize to the modern world. Decades later, now calling himself Vesuvius, this being of magma now fights alongside the super hero team the Front Line.
