Widow X debuted in Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook (2026) #2 by Geoff Johns. Her handbook entry says her first appearance was Geiger (2024) #25, which came out after the Guidebook.

She is one of The Unnamed, a group of unrelated strange heroes of American history. An advertisement for this new project included a timeline. On the timeline was: 1997- American Widow X has her revenge. The "American" part was eventually dropped.
