Caliban is the main antagonist in William Shakespeare's The Tempest. Before Prospero and Miranda lived on the island, Caliban's mother Sycorax ruled the island. It wasn't until Prospero killed the witch Sycorax that he imprisoned Caliban and made him his slave. Thus Caliban became angry with Prospero , drank with other people who visited the island, and trying to rape Miranda.
He is also a member of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen aiding Prospero along with Ariel.
