Origin

Huck lived in the woods for most of his child hood. After his father disappeared, he was taken in by the Widow Douglas, who tried to civilize him. He was one of Tom Sawyer's friends.

Creation

He was created by Mark Twain in the novel "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". Later he gets his own story called "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." He would also appear in such Twain tales as "Tom Sawyer Abroad" and "Tom Sawyer, Detective".
