Dick Donovan, the Glasgow Detective, was created by Joyce Emmerson Preston Muddock and published in the 1880s. He is one of the first ever fictional detectives, predating Sherlock Holmes, he has now entered the public domain.
League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen
