While in Mexico City, Mexico, Peter Parker of Parker Industries was honoring a young scientist with a scholarship from the Ben Parker Foundation. It was during the ceremony that Diablo accidentally caused an earthquake releasing Itzpapalotl from her imprisonment. She was held underneath the town square where the hidden structure of Tenochtitlan kept her entombed with the use of the Jade Mask. Spider-Man obtained the mask and imprisoned Itzpapalotl once again.
