Kokou is a god of war in the Yoruba religion from Benin.

Marvel

Although Kokou is a West African god and thus part of The Orisha, he is also part of the pantheon of Wakanda.

Blood Hunt

Eons ago the first vampire and demon Varnae steals adamantium ore that is protected by the Ennead deity Ptah, which he intends to forge a gate that will ascend him to godhood. One of the first Wakandans, a prisoner of Varnae, manages to steal the ore and flees the temple. She is killed by Varnae, an act witnessed by both Khonshu and Bast, who warns Khonshu that this land does not fall under the Ennead's protection. Khonshu protests that Varnae's plan is blasphemous and requires immediate retaliation, but eventually listens to Bast's sage wisdom to call a meeting between the Eastern Ennead and the Western Orisha.

Khonshu calls the meeting between the night gods of the surrounding realms - himself, Bast, Ghekre, Ptah, and Eshu - to forewarn them of Varnae's transgressions and his planned force of justice. Ptah, Bast and Ghekre agree to confront Varnae before Kokou teleports through the fire to their location, interrupting the meeting of gods and insisting that he too join. Khonshu expresses concern that, as Kokou is an Orishan War God, for him to join is to declare official war and that would place the unclaimed land and all its future inhabitants under Kokou's care. Kokou acknowledges this responsibility and accepts his new role as protector of the future Wakanda, and together the four African deities assault The Temple of First Blasphemy. There, Kokou teleports through the temple's defences into the central chamber where Varnae lays. Kokou is furious at the demon's transgressions and defeats him with holy flames, forcing Varnae to retreat. The four deities lay claim to the land that will become Wakanda, and swear an oath of protection over the people that forever reside there.
