Origin

Lady Marguerite St. Just a very intelligent French woman married the extremely wealthy Englishman Sir Percival Blakeney with whom she was madly in love with. Meeting him a year prier she married him leaving most to believe she had married him for his extreme wealth. This could not have been farther from the truth as she saw something in him that he kept hidden from most people. Just after the marriage Marguerite was tricked into betraying a man to the new French government that resulted in he and his whole family being beheaded. This was of the the results of the French Revolution that she was a part of.

Unknown to her new husband was also the Scarlet Pimpernel. The Scarlet Pimpernel was famous for saving the lives of aristocrats who were being killed by the new government. This put a wedge between her and her new husband that would not be mended for around a year.

It is at this time she is forced to betray the Scarlet Pimpernel to save her brother. Still not knowing it was her husband. Eventually the experience gets to be too much and she confesses what she had done a year ago to her husband and begs his forgiveness which he was cautious to except due to her cruelty toward him over the past year. Once she finds out he is the Scarlet Pimpernel she rushes to France to save him. This mends the couples marriage and she later joins him in the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel.

Creation

Marguerite the main character in the Scarlet Pimpernel novel and appears in many others in the series. The first novel and play as well as many others were created by Baroness Emmuska Orczy. These works are considered canon for the Scarlet Pimpernel universe but the characters are used in other works like the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LOEG)

Major Story Arcs

Along with comic adaptations of Scarlet Pimpernel novel Marguerite is also a member of the LOEG with her husband in the 18th century league. It is here she meets Fanny Hill. It is at this time that the three travel the world together and report about some of their experiences in the New Travelers Almanac.
