In the series Vampirella vs. Reanimator, Herbert West in his quest to overcome and control death with his ReAgent serum, he invades Mictēcacihuātl and Mictlantecuhtli's tomb and uses his serum on Mictēcacihuātl. She arises from death and instead of killing West out right commands that he become her king and help her usher in the World of Graves.
The pair then spend the next few hours killing villagers and turning them into spider monsters and amassing an army for when Vampirella arrives, because in this universe Mictēcacihuātl and Mictlantecuhtli are Drakulon and Vampirella killed then decades ago. Instead of destroying their bodies she buried them in Mexico assuming no one was dumb enough to raise them.
When Vampirella shows up, Mictēcacihuātl easily defeats her and forces the hero to retreat, giving Mictēcacihuātl and West time to build a portal to Drakulon.
When Vampirella returns she is not alone and has brought Mictlantecuhtli to fight his former queen, but Mictēcacihuātl is prepared for her king and betrays West, opens the portal and kills Vampirella.
Mictēcacihuātl and Mictlantecuhtli assume they have won but when a now ReAgented Vampirella returns she easily defeats the King and Queen of the Dead. She kills Mictlantecuhtli and throws Mictēcacihuātl into the space between Earth and Drakulon causing her to be frozen in space for all the rest of time.
