Background
A giant albino Sperm Whale and the main antagonist for which the novel is named. Moby Dick bit the leg off of Captain Ahab, causing him to vow revenge on the white whale. In later encounters Moby Dick would kill Ahab's son and sink his ship. He also kills Ahab's entire crew except for Ishmael and the Captain is drowned while trying to harpoon his nemesis. It was said that the scars on the whale looked like hieroglyphs of an unknown language.
