Sergeant Pedro Gonzales is a character created by Johnston Mcculley for the novel The Curse of Capistrano, he is a friend of Don Diego and does not know that he is secretly his rival, Zorro. In the 1957 Disney series, Gonzales' role is replaced by that of Sergeant Garcia, subsequent adaptations could use one or the other (although many dubs switch to Garcia), the animated series Zorro: The Chronicles (2015-2016) places the two characters together, possibly Gonzales replaces Corporal Reyes from the Disney series.
