Sigurd, son of Sigmund, is best known in Norse mythology as the slayer of the dragon Fafnir. In German folklore his name is Siegfried. He is also known for his tragic love affair with Brynhildr leading to his wife Gudrun dying at the end.
He has been adapted in many mediums such as DC comics and Marvel comics, in video games, anime, and manga such as Fate where Sigurd and Siegfried are separate beings.
