A relatively minor character in comics, other than being featured in stories related to the Sorcerer's apprentice is most often used for a comedic role. Even in the Sorcerer's Apprentice the character is more or less unimportant, only serving as an extension of the apprentice's desires (or poor knowledge of magic). It has no real intelligence per se, rather it is animated by magic and reverts to a regular broom once the spell has lapsed.
