Origin
He was a slave along with other people of his tribe in Africa. He managed to escape only to be cornered by slave drivers. Right when it seem to him that freedom will only be a dream, the slave drivers were shot dead by Black Ghost agents. The agents forced Pyunma to come with them on a plane where he ends up being operated on at the Black Ghost cybernetics lab where he become the eighth of the 00 Cyborgs. Now a cyborg with advance swimming abilities he is now given the code name Cyborg 008.

Cyborg 009 (2001)
His origin for this TV series has been altered where instead of a slave he was a rebel for a group of guerrillas who try to regain their land that's being ruled by a tyrant. During a battle, Pyunma was caught in a crossfire and ended up being abducted by Black Ghost Agents. His appearance was also altered so that way his appearance would not offend certain viewers. He was voiced by Mitsuo Iwata in the Japanese version while Mario L. Patrenella did the English voice for the English Dub.
