He gained his powers in the Black September after dying in gang war. The transformation revived him and changed his personality, becoming more heroic. He protected a girl called Danielle, who had died with him, and also revived.
He chased the Exiles, blaming them of the massive killing of millions in Manhattan, but discovered that they were innocent and joined them. He later became romantically involved with Shuriken.
