Alejandro Luna was an average teenager in Chicago known for his chess skills who lived with his father and little sister. When his mutant powers manifested, he couldn't control them which forced people around him to reveal their inner secrets and insecurities to him, which frustrated him. This forced him to withdraw from his daily life and abandon many of his hobbies like chess.

In one of the few moments he left his home, he decided to support one of his friends who was playing a local match of football. There he started to be bullied by some bigots. One his friend's teammate, a young girl named Tao witnessed the abuse Alejandro was suffering. Being a mutant herself, she decided to intervene and got into an altercation with the bullies. But her attitude and Alejandro's lack of control over his powers escalated the situation turning it into a full scaled fight. As both young mutants lacked experience in fighting and in their powers, they were soon cornered. Luckily they were rescued by Kitty Pryde, who decided to present them to another young mutant named Trista, so the three of them could befriend and leave Kitty alone.

Part of her plan worked, as the three young mutants formed a quick friendship, but they still seek Kitty for guidance, much to her frustration. She ended agreeing on training them so they could at least defend themselves once Emma Frost appeared interested in teaching them. Alejandro agreed to the training as it meant a chance to control his powers and avoid uncomfortable situations because of them.

Trista came up with his codename Axo, after the axolotls, as they also change their skin color. He also started to form an online friendship with Sophie Cuckoo.

As the group of friends improved in controlling their powers, they started to look for works. Kitty's roomate Priti was able to get the trio work as interns at her firm. On their first day they met Sheldon Xenos, the CEO of Verite, an app where people would send their DNA for self improvement. Although Trista and Thao showed concern regarding Verite and it's president, Alex was intrigued by Xenos' work ethic and desire to help others, which put him at odds with his friends and teachers.

But Verite proved to be a hoax, as Sheldon Xenos eventually revealed himself as Mr. Sinister, who showed an interest in Alejandro's telemphatic powers. The mad scientist kidnapped Axo to experiment on him and learn more about his powers as he cloned him so that nobody would notice the kidnapping. But the clone proved to be defective, not only on his behaviour, but also on it's genetic structure as it quickly melted away.

Kitty, Emma and Iceman soon realized that Mr. Sinister was behind this and quickly found them, starting a fight against him as Emma freed Alejandro from Sinister's device. Soon they were joined by Trista and Thao who were tricked by an Iceman clone.

Emma sacrificed herself to trap her psyche inside Essex's so the villain would be defeated. But Alejandro connected himself to the machine again to rescue her. He was able to use his telempathy power to trick the psyche of Sinister, giving him and Emma the chance to escape. He also was able to use his powers against the security system of Sinister, a pack of mutated animals with Sabretooth's DNA. Alejandro and his friends worked together and were able to defeat Mr. Sinister.

Power and Abilities

Alejandro is an empath who can read the emotions of people around him and increase them. His skin color change depending of the emotion he is reading and ampliflying. By reading the mood of others, he can also predict and calculate what their next action could be.
