Bram would be forced orphanage to orphanage as Bagra would kill orphans and turn them into twisted, gorey spires. Social worker, Ada Flores, took special care with placing him somewhere, even trying the Xavier Institute. It is there where Wolverine first gets whiff of him.

Years later, Bram would go to Weapon Plus to remove Bagra. Bagra would be exorcized from Bram and given Wolverine's body to possess. As the Hellverine, Bagra would attack mutants, who were currently enemies of the state thanks to Orchis propaganda, for the US government. When Bagra was instructed to kill a mutant infant, Wolverine was able to overwhelm Bagra, taking control back over his body.

Bagra decides to give up on Wolverine's body and return to Bram, who had felt empty since he had Bagra removed. Ghost Rider, who had been working with Wolverine, shows to use his damnation stare on Bram and Bagra, turning them into a warped stone monument, similar to how Bagra treats his victims.

Hell Hulk

After his failure to secure Logan, Bagra-ghul was summoned by Mephisto to take on the Hell Hulk. The Hell Hulk was a demonic super-soldier that backfired when it refused to follow orders. It was bred only to tear things down and that included Hell. Bagra-ghul ripped the Hell Hulk to pieces but did not stitch him back as a monument. Instead, Mephisto scattered the pieces on Earth and sent Bagra-ghul back to Earth to make up for his prior failures.

Bonded to Akihiro

After returning to Earth, Bagra-ghul bonded to Akihiro, the dead son of Wolverine, Together, they would unleash vengeance on sinners across the country. This would get the attention of the newest Project Hellfire, working out of the Pentagon basement. They targeted Wolverine believing him to this "Hellverine," but once Logan was able to prove it wasn't, he joined their fight to end the madness, especially after identifying it as his thought-dead son.

The Hellverine was lured to Washington DC by the undead, hellfire enhanced soldiers that Project: Hellfire let loose. These soldiers immediately turned on their agency and fought for their freedom, killing a lot of people in their wake. When Hellverine made it to DC, it ran into Logan, whose presence reminded Daken of his old memories. Unfortunately, Bagra-Ghul remembered Logan as a better vessel. It leapt into Logan's body, returning Daken to a corpse.

While possessing Logan, Logan sensed his memories of their time together. Bagra-ghul had been influenced by Logan's efforts to control his rageful side and had only been targeting the worst of the worst. Realizing that Akihiro was not a victim of Bagra-ghul, Logan released the demon so that Akihiro got remain among the living. The Hellverine and Logan would then team up to shut down Project Hellfire, freeing the undead soldiers from their control.

Mephisto's Conspiracy

The weight of Bagra-ghul's actions were weighing on Akihiro. He sought out Doctor Strange for help. Strange sensed that Bagra-ghul may have been lying about turning over a new leaf and that Mephisto still had a plan for him. Strange was afraid of what that would mean for Akihiro and sent him to the North Pole, where the demon first possessed Akihiro. There, he found a gateway to hell held open with one of Bagra-ghul's monuments. Akihiro destroyed the monument, but demons had already gotten to the surviving mutants still at The Greenhouse. Strange teleported to his side with new research that magic sourced from Hell has escaped on to Earth and was targeting mutantkind.

Strange believed Mephisto has been inspired by Akihiro's traumatic past and defiling the Earth at the locations of Akihiro's worst memories. He sought out his birthplace, only to find it ravaged by a demonic version of his own mother. He then checked Genosha where Logan first killed him by drowning to find a demonic copy of himself made out of water. Eventually, this got the attention of Mephisto. He was sick of dealing with Akihiro so he pulled Bagra-ghul from his body to shape him into a new monument.

Mephisto revealed his plan of siding with mutants over humans for the future of the Earth, damning them as his followers. He leveraged Akihiro's survival to fight by his side, but Akihiro refused. Mephisto sent Bagra-ghul to attack him, but Akihiro carved a symbol into Bagra-ghul's skin with his claws. It was a special control glyph that he found in one of Strange's books which freed Bagra-ghul from Mephisto's influence and locked him to Akihiro. Akihiro was now the Hellverine permanently and out from under Mephisto's thumb.
