Black Bee was active twenty years prior to the Modern Age. He was only active for two years, quitting crime-fighting after being severely beaten by an Atlantic City gang. Damon Hooks returned to a normal mundane life. Years later, he met Spider-Man early in the young superhero's career.
One of Black Bee's powers was the ability to project bee-like stingers from the back of his hands.
*Black Bee is only featured in a prose story in Spider-Man #54 that occurs concurrently with "Amazing Spider-Man v1 #7" and was reprinted in "The Ultimate Spider-Man" anthology novel.
