Killerwat, the Avenger

Blue Bolt is one of the earliest recruits for the new Avengers work release program started by Iron Man and War Machine. He was previously known as Killerwatt, working for Hydra under their Captain America double, now calling himself Flag-Smasher. Despite Iron Man's urging to allow him house arrest at their compound, Bolt is forced to return to prison at the end of every shift as an Avenger. Never comfortable with the name Blue Bolt, which was forced on to him by Stark, Tommy changed his name to "Wonder Man," just to get back at his dad. Simon confronted him about it but ultimately let it go. He even met Bolt's dad to try and impress him.

Unfortunately, Flag-Smasher was being held at the same prison as Tommy. He wasn't impressed by Tommy's Avengers membership. Flag-Smasher was running a terrorist network from behind bars, and he assumed he could be leaned on like he was during the Secret Empire. He gave Tommy a hard drive to connect to the Avengers computer network, granting him access, or else a mercenary would kill Tommy's father. Fed up, Tommy tried to escape, catching a bullet from a guard, except he had a choice to make, save his father or join the West Coast Avengers against an even more psychotic than usual Ultron bot, calling itself The Scorched.

He chose to help the Avengers, including filling them in on everything Flag-Smasher was doing to him. The heroic version of Ultron, who was a member of the team, put the hard drive into containment since it was also a listening device, and Wonder Man agreed to save Tommy's dad as the fastest member. Ultron sacrificed himself by merging with The Scorched and keeping him occupied while Bolt and the others could blast their metal bodies. The Ultrons were fused together into one block of metal and the danger was over. For his efforts, Bolt was finally granted release from prison and remanded into the custody of the Avengers so he could serve his parole from the West Coast Avengers HQ
