Origin

To kill a Mockingbird & Hawkeye
To kill a Mockingbird & Hawkeye

Nothing is really known about Wendy Conrad and how she became the hired costumed villain Bombshell. A street savvy criminal and expert in explosives she somehow connected with the minor masked criminal Oddball. With a similar unique interest in juggling they soon joined forces and Wendy would appear as the pink clad Bombshell.

During Bombshell's first mission, she paired up with two other criminals named Oddball and the Silencer. Bombshell and the other two mercenaries were hired by a being named Crossfire to kidnap the Avenger Hawkeye. She would set an explosive at the residence of Hawkeye and as he and Mockingbird landed on the roof and entered the building it blew up few moments after. However due to Mockingbirds extensive S.H.I.E.L.D training she was quickly aware of the trap. Hawkeye than remotely triggered the explosive once they left the building. Changing courses and with a clever course of action, Bombshell disguised herself as a nun to get close to Hawkeye and his companion Mockingbird. Awaiting in the New York subway station while Hawkeye chased down Oddball, Bombshell then used her explosive Gauntlets to unleash a powerful attack on Mockingbird. Bombshell became the distraction as she fought Mockingbird while Oddball took care of Hawkeye. Even though the villains were less experienced, they were able to capture both heroes and take them to Crossfire's headquarters.

Once they returned with Hawkeye and Mockingbird, Crossfire started the sound control experiment on his captives. Hawkeye was able to fight off the effects of the sound control holding cell by using a sonic arrow to drown out the sound control. Defeating Mockingbird, Hawkeye than went on to take down all three villains including Bombshell. She along with her companions were sent to prison awaiting trial.

Creation

Bombshell was created by Mark Gruenwald in 1983 and first appeared in Marvel Comics Hawkeye # 3.

Oddball became impressed with Bombshell's abilities and offered her to join a group of criminal jugglers called the Death Throws. Hawkeye and Mockingbird escaped from Crossfire's trap, destroyed his ultrasound machine and captured Crossfire. Oddball and Bombshell were defeated and would have been arrested too, but they were rescued by Tenpin, a member of the Death-Throws who was also Oddball's brother. Tenpin had been looking for his missing brother, and Oddball convinced him to back Bombshell's addition to the team. Death-Throw leader Ringleader welcomed Bombshell as the fifth member of the team. Crossfire contacted the Death-Throws from jail. He wanted the jugglers to release him, and agreed to pay them when he was freed. The Ringleader accepted the deal, and Bombshell and the other Death-Throws worked together to free Crossfire. However, once they had taken Crossfire to their own HQ, they discovered that Crossfire was broke! His assets had been impounded and he had lost any useful link with Cross Technologies. The Death-Throws decided to use Crossfire as a bait to attract Hawkeye and Captain America to a trap, but those two Avengers defeated all of the Death-Throws. Bombshell and her partners went to jail.

The Femizons

Bombshell was then approached by Superia, a feminist zealot wanting to gather an all-women super-villain team: The Femizons. Bombshell became one of the several dozens of super-powered women who supported Superia's scheme to sterilize all the women in the world except for a few chosen ones, and then force the governments to accept their demands as the only way to ensure humanity's continuity. Along with the other Femizons, Bombshell traveled to Femizonia Island (South Atlantic) in the S.S. Superia. However, two Femizons had a long-lasting outgoing feud that led them to conflict during the trip. Snapdragon attacked Diamondback and injured her. Diamondback's allies Captain America and Paladin tracked her disappearance and boarded the S.S. Superia. A third Femizon, Ferocia, raised the alarm and Bombshell attacked Cap and Paladin, as a part of a 50-women army. Although they managed to defeat the males, Superia's scheme was a disaster when the protection of Femizonia Island was broken and Superia was forced to leave to stop her own sterilizing bombs. The Femizons were disbanded and each of them including Bombshell went her own path.

The Hero Killers

Bombshell and several super-powered cronies like like the Beetle, Constrictor, Rhino, Blacklash, Discus, Speed Demon, Boomerang, Stiletto and Hydro-Man would work as one of Justin Hammer's operatives where they come into conflict with Spider-Man and the New Warriors when Speedball is kidnapped. The Sphinx worked with Justin Hammer where his operatives kidnapped various heroes including Auric and Silver. They were held captive at the Target Technologies complex in New Jersey where they analyzed the heroes' abilities for their own ends. Bombshell and the rest of Hammer's operatives would lure Spider-Man and the rest of the Warriors into a prearranged location where they are trapped by a special bubble shield. Bombshell appears to have eluded capture when the New Warriors break free and defeat the Sphinx.

London Falling

Bombshell would again reach out to her former team of criminal jugglers and went back to joining the Death-Throws. At the time and Death Throws and her former contractor and partner Crossfire had joined up with an international terrorist organization called RAID along with other super criminals. Bombshell decided that the partnership would allow her to replenish lost funds and get herself back into circulation. R.A.I.D had plans where they would strategically strike numerous targeted locations in London attempting to cash in one the wealthy while making a terrorist statement. Bombshell would lend into the assignment and join Crossfire on her first mission with R.A.I.D.

During one mission things would go astray when they where discovered by the Israeli super agent Sabra and the British hero Union Jack. Bombshell along with the rest of her crew are defeated by Union Jack and Sabra and sent to prison. Bombshell along with the other American criminals were awaiting extradition to the U.S.A from Interpol.
