Bulldog appears for the first time in The Union #3 by Andrea DiVito and Paul Grist

The Britannia Project

Bulldog auditioned for The Britannia Project, a nationwide search for superhumans co-sponsored by the government to build an official UK superhero team. He was in the running for the English representative (as each member would be from a different country in the UK), but he was determined not to be enough of a team player. After the death of Britannia, the hand-picked leader of the team, Bulldog was activated while Union Jack was forced to take leadership.

They needed the reinforcements because an other Union member, Choir, was kidnapped by her former crime lord employer, Doc Croc. He was searching for the Empire Stone, a dark magic artifact that gives the holder absolute power. However, Steve Darwin, the wealthy financier of the project, beats him to it. With the stone, Darwin is determined to be the new Emperor.

Britannia returns to the team in spirit form and inspires them all to work together and overpower Darwin. Once they succeed, Britannia finally moves on

Blood Hunt

When the vampire cult, The Structure, filled the sky with darkforce energy as part of their plot for world domination, Bulldog hit the streets of UK to fight their vampire forces. Unfortunately, he was bitten and turned. Union Jack managed to chain him up in a hospital basement in a tub of blood to keep him satiated while Union Jack follows the sire lineage to free all the recently turned.

Joe felt guilty for retreating at the beginning of the crisis, and he was desperate to save Bulldog, who never retreated. Hearing Joe's kind words for a man who annoyed him kept Bulldog's heroic spirit alive through the vampiric curse. He used his new supernatural strength to join Joe's fight against the other vampires, dismissing the telepathic demands of the master vampire.

The master vampire was eventually revealed as Hunger, a vampire who gained strength from the number of vampires he sired. Joe did his best to fight the vampire, but he was no match. Bulldog was forced to sacrifice himself. He demanded one of Joe's civilian allies blast his head off. The pain the Hunger felt was enough of a distraction for Joe to slay him, curing all the vamps he sired. Unfortunately, it was too late for Bulldog.

Powers & Abilities

Super Solider: Bulldog had increased strength and agility

Vampirism: Before his death, Bulldog was bitten and turned into a vampire. His strength was enhanced even further. He had long claws and fangs. He also had a psychic connection to the vampire who sired him.
