Origin

Corporal Ellen Carver worked for the Roxxon Corporation Special Forces during the War of the Realms, when she was sent alongside her team on a mission into Vanaheim. The squad was ambushed by Vanir creatures and, with Carver being the sole survivor, is spoken to by a mystic weapon named Ginnarr The Hoarding Blade. Carver accepts the blade's offer, and defeats the creature that slaughtered her squad before escaping Vanaheim and returning to Earth as a mercenary.

Creation

Carver was co-created by writer Jed MacKay and artist Alessandro Cappuccio, and first appeared in Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #0.

Major Story Arcs

Moon Knight

Carver first appears as the right-hand woman of Achilles Fairchild, an Asgardian and enemy of Moon Knight. Carver does not display any emotional involvement in the conflict between Fairchild and the Fist of Khonshu, merely participating as a soldier. During a raid of Moon Knight's magical headquarters the Midnight Mission, Carver uses the great power of her Vanir sword to strike the House of Shadows and murder its mystical essence.

Some time later Fairchild sends Carver to kill Moon Knight, and as the fight escalates she succeeds. Marc Spector's soul is sent to The Hoard, where he learns that Fairchild lied to Carver by promising that can free her of Ginnarr in exchange for her services. Unfortunately for Ginnarr, Marc Spector's soul is already indebted to Khonshu, who is invoked by Marc and tears into The Hoard to attack the dragon. Moon Knight bargains with Khonshu and gains full control of Ginnarr, breaking the sword's hold over Carver's soul. In exchange for her life, Moon Knight orders Carver to give him intel on Achilles Fairchild.

Powers & Abilities

As former Roxxon security, Carver has the same training as most soldiers including differing forms of hand-to-hand combat, firearms training etc.

During Roxxon's involvement in the War of the Realms, Carver became the sole survivor of a mission to Vanaheim and became the owner of a sword known as Ginnarr The Hoarding Blade. The blade, forged by Ori The Mad of Nidavellir, was plunged into a wyrm which became its first soul claimed, and thus took on the aspect of a great dragon. As a result, Carver is indebted to the hoarding nature of Ginnarr, who requires her to farm souls to satiate its greed. Once Carver kills someone with Ginnarr, their soul is absorbed into a pocket dimension known as The Hoard.
