Origin

Charles Rider is the father of both Richard and Robbie Rider. He was a real family man and helped his sons out whenever he could, he however had some trouble with adjusting to the fact that his son was a superhero named Nova.

Creation

Chalres Rider was created by Marv Wolfman and John Buscema and first appeared in Nova Vol.1 issue 1 in 1976.

Over the years, Charles has been of great help to his son, advicing him but not always agreeing with one another.

Death

It was recently revealed that Charles had died due to an illnes. Richard Rider, who himself had just seemingly returned from the dead, had not been present at his funeral, which caused Richard much grief.
