Doc Watson was a military physician, serving in the United States Army since 1925. He had once been prisoner in Devil's Island. He escaped with the assistance of Laurie Livingston and Howard Shigeta. They stayed close friends for years.

Deadly Dozen

Watson was the only member of the Dozen with no known criminal record. Uncertain why he was chosen for the unit. He served well. In their last mission, Watson was supposed to lure out a German and keep him preoccupied until Ace Hamilton could kill him. Watson thought that Hamilton would shoot the guy. When Hamilton failed to show up, Watson panicked and started running away. The guard shot him, only to be knifed from behind by Hamilton seconds later. Hamilton thought he was supposed to be quiet and had used the relatively silent weapon.
