Domina was created by writer Archie Goodwin and artist Carmine Infantino, first appearing in Star Wars #35 - Dark Lord's Gambit. She was the only daughter of Sanya, baroness in the House of Tagge on the planet Tepasi. Her brother, Orman, felt a great deal of affection for her, even coming to blows when Silas suggested that she marry into an Imperial family when she came of age. Orman called her, "the one pure and innocent thing in the Tagge family."

Domina was once a member of the Order of the Sacred Circle and eventually became its leader. Even after leaving the order, she wore the traditional yellow gown of that order. Domina briefly worked with Darth Vader and used romantic interest in Luke Skywalker in order to avenge her brothers, Orman and Silas, whom Darth Vader claimed had been murdered by Skywalker. During this time, Vader trained her in the use of the Force. An attempt to destroy Skywalker was thwarted when Domina was betrayed by her own men, and turned her over for an Imperial bounty.

Later, Domina came into conflict with Princess Leia Organa and Lando Calrissian, who were seeking a cure for the Crimson Forever disease which had infected Luke Skywalker. Organa and Calrissian trapped Domina on her ship with a group of bounty hunters she had hired--Bossk, IG-88, Dengar, and Zuckuss--confining them to the compartment they were in or risking exposure to the Crimson Forever virus themselves.

Eventually, Domina took advantage of the assassin droid IG-88's robotic form to neutralize the virus, and so Skywalker was cured. Domina was granted safe passage, although Calrissian suggested to the bounty hunters that they might claim a bounty on Domina herself.
