A vicious ganglord with a penchant for bad puns and a talent for mariachi music, The Don of the Dead is apparently an ex-SHIELD agent and acquaintance of Taskmaster.

He is the governor of the Mexican state of Michoacán. In his first appearance, The Don takes Taskmaster in as a guest of honor before inevitably turning on him for a hefty bounty. During the battle, Don is revealed to be a Caucasian American merely pretending to be latino. The character is deliberately played for laughs. Defeated, the Don is seemingly killed when he falls off a cliff.
Too fun of a character to be killed after just one outing, The Don has returned in another miniseries by his creator Fred Van Lente, "Power Man and Iron Fist". The Don appears stateside, coming into conflict with Iron Fist and the new Power Man.
