Creation and Development

Eleanor Bishop was created by Allan Heinberg, Kelly Thompson, and Leonardo Romero. She first appeared in Hawkeye #7.

She was believed to be dead by her daughters until her youngest, Kate Bishop. found that she had been resurrected as a vampire and her death had been at the hands of her ex-husband Derek.

History

After being killed by her husband Derek, Eleanor was somehow resurrected as a half-vampire. Because of this, she was ashamed to reveal she was alive to her daughter, Kate Bishop. She joined up with Madame Masque, so that she would have the resources to find a cure and exact revenge on Derek.

Since Eleanor was resurrected as a vampire, she has the standard vampiric powers and abilities.

Hawkeye

In Marvel's 2021 Disney+ limited series, Hawkeye, Eleanor Bishop is portrayed by Vera Farmiga and is the ex-wife of Derek Bishop and the mother of Kate Bishop. After Derek died during the Battle of New York, Eleanor inherited his wealth and raised their daughter alone. However, even though Kate was now 22-years-old, she still had control over Kate's credit cards and cancelled them after Kate got in trouble at her school. When Kate came home for the holidays, the two plus Eleanor's fiancé Jack Duquense attended a gala. At the gala, Kate confronted Eleanor about their engagement.

Later on, Eleanor and Jack's uncle Armand Duquense III had a confrontation and she assured Kate that it was nothing before going back to the gala. When the black market auction was attacked, Eleanor left and tried to find her fiancé and daughter, but only found Jack. However, she and Kate talked on the phone. The next day, Eleanor and Jack's conversation was interrupted when Kate entered her office but the three ended up agreeing to have dinner that night. After dinner, Kate and Jack had a fencing duel despite Eleanor's attempts to stop them. Afterwards, Kate left.
