The Executor is a New York City firefighter. While on duty, he witnessed a possessed Wrecker killing a number of civilians. While Wrecker was eventually stopped by Doctor Strange, the firefighter was already traumatized. When therapy didn't help, he turned to magic. He started acquiring spellbooks and studied them voraciously, until he was able to command the dead.

The Haunting of Wrecker
The Executor used his new magic abilities to raise the ghosts of the victims of the Wrecker. He forced them to haunt the Wrecker until he went to Moon Knight for help. Moon Knight's connection to magic and the realms of the dead allowed him to track Executor down, but he was able to raise Marc Spector's victims as well. With Wrecker's superhero backup preoccupied, he confronted the villain. He forced the ghosts to stop haunting him and possess him instead.
The Scarlet Scarab, an ally of Moon Knight and protector of the dead, tried to convince Executor to stand down, but it only angered Executor more. He lashed out and fought back with his fire axe. Scarab was defended by Reese, Moon Knight's vampire friend. She took the brunt of Executor's axe and played dead. Since neither Scarab nor Executor knew she was a vampire, they believed she was dead. Executor hesitated long enough for Layla to warn Executor that Moon Knight planned on using Ginnarr, the soul-eating sword on the ghosts. To save them, Executor released them and then teleported away.
