Creation

Fantasma debuts canonically in Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special (2024) in the short story "A Fantasmic Roller Derby Adventure" by Melissa Flores and Jan Bazaldua. She originally appeared on a variant cover for Ghost Rider in October 2023 drawn by Luciano Vecchio. This cover was part of the "New Champions" variants depicting original sidekicks for Marvel's title characters.

Major Storyline

New Champions

During one of her roller derby matches, magic birds from Hellrune swarmed Fantasma, transporting her to a Norse zombie infested forest with a number of other teen heroes. Hellrune had cast a spell to move her team, the New Champions, to her location, but it grabbed a few more teen heroes, styled as if they were sidekicks even though they weren't.

While everyone else was fighting, Hellrune was drawn away by a voice belonging to her sorceress aunt. She was freed form her prison by Hellrune and then helped Runie tap into her magic potential ending the viking zombie horde. In the aftermath, Liberty extends membership to all the teens that were teleported there, but only a few accepted communicators for future meet ups, including Fantasma who thought the fight was a lot of fun.

Spirit of Violence

Practicing her teleporting, Fantasma found herself transported to the God Quarry. There she met Robbie Reyes, the Ghost Rider who was trapped in the quarry. He hoped Fantasma would be able to help him escape since he could sense a threat targeting the other Spirits of Vengeance. One of their attempts finally worked, and the two Spirits arrived just in time to save Danny Ketch from the Spirit of Violence, who had bonded to Danny's dead sister, Barbara.
