Serenity Springs was a small town in California’s Caliente Mountain Range, roughly four hours north of Los Angeles. In a cavern beneath one of the nearby mountains was the lair of an unidentified demonic entity. It has not been revealed if the demon—called by its followers, “the Father of All Worlds”—was somehow responsible for the town being abandoned by its residents. In more recent years, stuntman Brad Wrangle developed ambition to transition into producing movies. While scouting Serenity Springs as a shooting location, he discovered the Father of All Worlds and apparently became corrupted by it.

Wrangle took his film crew to the demon’s lair, where they were similarly coerced into obeying the demon with promises of power and wealth. Those who did not comply were apparently sacrificed to the demon’s appetites. Wrangle returned to Los Angeles to recruit another film crew under the pretense of shooting a low-budget movie. He took scriptwriter Buck Cowan, actress Clary Winter, and amateur stuntman Jack Russell to Serenity Springs with the intent of sacrificing them all to the Father of All Worlds. However, Russell was secretly the Werewolf by Night. His intervention stopped the ritual sacrifice, and Wrangle was killed when the angered demon devoured him because of his failure. The entity and the other cultists were all killed in the subsequent collapse of the cavern. Cowan and Winters, as well as their lycanthrope savior, escaped the cave-in and returned to Los Angeles.
