Gadfly is the daughter of two former superheroes, Captain Hip and Sunshine. She rebelled against her parents and was inspired by the Black Fox, who had saved her from being mugged. She sought him out, engaging in criminal acts to get his attention.
Later Gadfly and the Black Fox died defending the Earth from a Skrull invasion.
